Unity Theatre, like so many, has been severely impacted by the Coronavirus, however this does not mean that their mission as a charity to support and nurture local talent has been put on hold.
If anything, the creative community in Liverpool need their help now more than ever as access to income and creative performance opportunity for artists is so limited. Since they shut their doors in March 2020, Unity have invested funds to support:
They have also recently completed a call out for Merseyside creatives to submit work as part of their 2021 season Open Call Programme. The Open Call provides artists with a fee of up to £1250 and will help artists survive and comeback stronger than ever after a year of restricted income streams and few creative outlets.
They were delighted that the call out was successful and that they received over 16 times the number of applications for the programme to places available, but it also shows how many of Liverpool’s brilliant local artists are in need of financial and creative support at this time.
Consequently, they would like to kindly ask for your help to be able to increase the number they can support by up to up to 10 more artists.
They desperately want to extend Open Call to include 10 more artists. But we need your help to do it.
They’ve set up a Crowdfunder, with a target of £7500 to generate the finds needed to say ‘yes’ to 10 more artists.
Donations will move from the pockets of donors to that of the artists. They are also offering all artists who take part in the season the opportunity for a free professional recording of their work which will allow them to continue to make money.
Whether they open next month, next season or next year, Open Call will go ahead – your support can make that happen.
