Liverpool’s grassroots Black arts festival, BlackFest is seeking four new Directors for their Board.
The non-profit organisation, who work with Black artists to create an exceptional festival programme as well as nurturing a vibrant arts community throughout the year via educational and empowering projects, are seeking to develop their Board to enhance our cultural offer.
BlackFest are particularly welcoming applicants with a knowledge and understanding of the arts and not-for-profit sector; an understanding of best practice operational and governance structure; and financial and business acumen including accounting expertise.
Jubeda Khatun, Director at BlackFest, said “This is an opportunity to build skills, contribute to cultural life and grow your networks. Enthusiasm and passion for the arts and for supporting the work of Black artists, musicians and performers is a must alongside having the energy and time to further develop our mission.”
Founded in 2018, BlackFest platform and develop work by Black creatives and communities in established arts venues and community spaces, bridging the gap between institutions and marginalised communities.
Their annual programme includes music, dance, visual arts, film, literature, theatre community productions and education; using arts for social inclusion, community cohesion and making arts accessible for underrepresented & underdeveloped groups with positive outcomes in well-being, employment, further training and championing leadership.
Over the past two years, BlackFest have worked with the likes of Unity Theatre, The Bluecoat, Philharmonic Hall, Toxteth TV, FACT, Everyman Playhouse Theatres and local and nationwide artists.
