NML currently have the post of Collections Information Analyst available.
National Museums Liverpool has a large, multi-disciplinary collection that is managed day to day by five curatorial teams in World Museum, Art Galleries, Maritime Museum, Museum of Liverpool and International Slavery Museum. Working closely with these colleagues, as well as those in Registration, Conservation and Archives, you will be responsible for the technical management of NML’s collections management database to help ensure the appropriate and accurate recording of collections information and collections management procedures.
To help accomplish this, you should have experience of technical administration and support of collections management systems, data migration projects and data analysis. Additionally, you should be familiar with sector-wide initiatives in making digital collections data more accessible, including TaNC, DiSSCo and MDS, and associated funding opportunities. You will also work on special projects delivery involving digital collections data.
A key initial project is supporting the migration from MIMSY XG to a successor system and, subsequently, the facilitation of user training, technical maintenance, system development, and digitisation projects. After the replacement of MISMY XG, the role will progress to an emphasis on maintaining the successor system, facilitating documentation and digitisation initiatives across NML, ensuring the use of documentation standards, and providing technical expertise and support to enable colleagues in their use of the database.
