Interpretation Plan Consultant – Hyndburn Borough Council, closes 9 Dec ’24

Hyndburn Borough Council is seeking a suitably experienced consultant/consultancy team to tender for the preparation of an interpretation plan and in consideration of their audience development aims for the successful delivery and subsequent operation of Accrington Market Chambers (AMC). The interpretation plan shall be prepared in a form that takes account of all relevant guidelines published by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

During the National Lottery Heritage Fund Development Phase, the appointed consultant/consultancy team will produce an interpretation plan including plans for developing an overarching heritage theme for the new museum with sub themes to ensure the museum and the complementary activities in AMC are inclusive, relevant to Hyndburn’s communities, accessible and work towards financially sustainability.

Alongside and following an initial stage of interpretation planning work, the consultant/consultancy team will undertake a review of heritage themes identified and, as more detailed audience development is advanced and there is better clarity as to the scope and nature of heritage themes that target audiences and Hyndburn audiences identify. The consultant will make recommendations for a preferred overarching heritage theme for AMC to increase community memory, identity, culture and a sense of pride in place for the new heritage and related offer in the building.

The appointed consultant will develop a detailed interpretation plan in consultation with Hyndburn Borough Council and with stakeholders such as Culture and Heritage Investment Panel (CHIP), a panel of experienced and practicing arts, heritage and cultural professionals who advise and consult on the strategic development of culture and heritage in the borough guided by Hyndburn’s new Cultural Strategy 2024-2030 and cultural partners such as Super Slow Way, Idle Women and Lancashire Museums.
