Performers – CRIPtic Arts, closes 9 Sept

CRIPtic Arts is bringing the CRIPtic Cabaret to Manchester’s HOME Studio Theatre on Friday 11th November as part of TransVegas 2022!

CRIPtic Cabaret will be a celebration of local trans deaf & disabled creatives, and will form part of a double bill showcase – followed by a performance of Jamie Hale’s NOT DYING.

They’re looking for 3 Manchester based performers who are trans and deaf or disabled to be part of the cabaret. They want to hear from creatives of all backgrounds, whether you’re an actor developing a solo show, a singer, or a poet.

Each performance will be between 10-15 minutes long and should be ready to perform and simple to stage. You will have the day to rehearse in the theatre, a simple festival rig, and a projector & screen.

The fee for the performance is £250. They will provide BSL interpreters.

NOT DYING

NOT DYING is a multidisciplinary solo(ish) show exposing the interiority of their experiences with disability and mortality, framed against the social context of disableism. Fusing poetry, monology, and theatre, NOT DYING is both a manifesto of change – boldly highlighting the way disableism sears across their life, limiting their independence and autonomy – and a love letter to wholeness, queer sex, and the bold, transgressive act of living joyfully as a disabled person.

Interested?

Please email contact@cripticarts.org with a CV, a performance pitch of max 1000 words, (or an 8 minute video in English or BSL), and links to some examples of your work.

The closing date for applications is Friday 9th September.
