Walking Tour Training Programme – Writing on the Wall (WoWFest), starts 18 July ’24

Are you a budding historian looking to learn new skills? Or just a passionate storyteller? Writing on the Wall’s upcoming Walking Tour training programme may be for you.

Since 2011 Writing on the Wall have delivered their Creative Heritage model, through a series of projects working with community participants and archives to uncover and creatively interpret hidden histories. Through these they have developed a number of successful walking tours around such histories, including:

George Garrett

Great War to Race Riots

L8 Law Centre

Dorothy Kuya

The project will begin with an introductory session on Thursday 18th July, followed by weekly Saturday walking tours and debrief sessions. The project will also include script writing sessions and digital resource packs that will equip participants with the knowledge and confidence to deliver their own walking tours.

Once the training programme is complete, participants will have paid opportunities to deliver our Creative Heritage walking tours during our festivals, and as requested by groups. Their walking tours have had great success during WoWFEST and their Black History Month festival and are regularly requested by university and trade union groups.

To register your interest, please fill out the Google form here or alternatively contact their Creative Heritage manager janaya@writingonthewall.org.uk
