Janelle Monáe’s ‘Dirty Computer'(2018) is a visual album, or ’emotion picture’ set in a dystopian future.
An Android, Jane 57821, played by Monáe, undergoes her memory being “cleaned”. As the removal of her memory and feeling, Jane 57821 starts a journey to find out who she really is.
This film explores humanity, and what happens to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness when mind and machines merge, and when the government chooses fear over freedom.
In collaboration with ROOT-ed Zine, a platform for artists of colour in the North West, and We Are Parable, a film events company based in London, and in partnership with Cinema Nation as part of BFI Musicals! The Greatest Show on Screen.
This is a UK-wide film season supported by National Lottery, BFI Film Audience Network and ICO.
About Location
The station is one stop from Liverpool Lime St and trains run roughly every ten minutes, step off the train directly into the buildings.
Buses no. 26 and 27 run to Tunnel Road (closest stop to Edge Hill Station).
Buses no. 14, 61, and 79 run to Wavertree Road (5 mins walk to Edge Hill Station) from Queens Square Bus Station.
There is a level access entrance available a few steps from the train platform and approx. 20m from a public car park, located on the main public approach to the station.
There is a disabled toilet at Edge Hill Station. Parking is available for attendees to this event but it is limited.
The event is open to anyone aged 16+.
