Choirfest and the Summer Fair returns to St. Brides Church on Saturday 14 July following its hugely successful debut in 2017.

Seven local choirs will take part in what will be a hotly-fought but friendly competition for three separate trophies as ChoirFest and the Summer Fair returns to St Bride’s Church!

Choirs taking part include:

The H’arts and Voices

Liverpool’s Royal Court Community Choir

St Anne’s School Choir

Sunlight Unplugged

Serendipity

Liverpool Show Choir

Audiences are encouraged to sing along with a group song, with choirs and audiences performing together at the end of the day!

The summer fair will host a number of stalls selling arts and crafts as well as food and drink provided by Olive Restaurant, Castle Street to peruse throughout the afternoon.

Budding Mary Berry’s are encouraged to show off their baking skills as the St Brides Bake Off returns for a second year, with this year’s competition sponsored by Olive Restaurant. Bring along a home baked cake to enter with the winner picked by a team of judges.

The family friendly event will run from 11am – 4pm inviting the community to come together for an afternoon of music, food and fun. The entry fee for the day is just £2with all proceeds donated to the extremely worthy Save Our St Brides campaign.

All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Save Our St Brides campaign; a fundraising campaign set up to raise vital funds for the renovation and running costs of the Percy Street church, one of the architectural jewels of the city’s Georgian Quarter.

St Bride’s is in urgent need of repairs, and is on the English Heritage ‘at risk’ register. Church leaders have recently launched a Reimagining St Bride’s initiative to completely refurbish the 188-year-old place of worship.

The church is an important part of Canning’s Georgian townscape and now the only remaining Classical church building in Liverpool. It provides vital outreach work amongst refugees, asylum seekers and homeless people. it hosts the Hope + Foodbank and provides a sacred space for the LGBTQIA+ community and other vulnerable groups.

Emma Dears, who launched the Save Our St Bride’s campaignsaid: “ChoirFest and the Summer Fair will be a great, fun family day out. Although there is an aspect of competition to the day the main agenda is fun and fundraising.

“All the money raised will go to St Bride’s and will help to sustain the wonderful work it does within the community
