La Doctrina (Chile) and Calfun (Chile/UK) present a tribute to the people of Chile and their struggle for a fairer society.
They are joined by a number of special guests including: The Common View (UK/Chile); Juliana Pinheiro Ladim (Brasil) ; Estibaliz Moure Abad (Chile) with a presentation of Cueca Sola and Mark Sebastian D’Lacey (UK).
In October the people of Chile stood up against decades of inequality and corruption in the country’s ever more socialist movement.
The government of Sebastian Piñera responded with a curfew, sent the army on to the streets unleashing a repression that has caused dozens of deaths, rapes, torture and hundreds of disappearances as well as illegal detentions.
In response to the government’s abuse of power, over 2.5 million people took to the streets across the country.
Chilean communities all over the world have organised events and demonstrations. In Liverpool they have organised three already and soon there will be another.
This concert is part of their way of showing support. La Doctrina, one of the two groups organising the concert, will be returning to Chile at the end of the month.
