Francisco Carrasco, LUMA Creations’ Creative Director will be in conversation with percussionist Eugene Skeef.
The event is free and held online, 19 October, 7pm. You can watch it here.
Eugene is a South African percussionist, composer, poet, educationalist and animator living in London since 1980.
Eugene’s roots are firmly established in his cultural work with Steve Biko, the late South African civil rights leader, with whom he co-led a nationwide literacy campaign teaching in schools, colleges and communities across apartheid South Africa.
His compositions have been performed by the London Sinfonietta and The Scottish National Orchestra to name some. Eugene talks about his work in places of conflict, his journey in South Africa’s Apartheid years and his belief in the power of creativity to heal.
Part of Black History Month.
