Love terrazzo? Learn the technique whilst making your own coaster set!
During this session, you will learn how to make a pair of round terrazzo-pattern coasters using an eco resin material, Jesmonite.
In recent years, Jesmonite has become the go-to material for designers and artists looking for an environmentally conscious alternative to traditional resin based products. Originally used in the building industry, Jesmonite is an acrylic-modified gypsum (plaster) composite that offers an eco-friendly and safe alternative to fibreglass, and provides a lightweight substitute to concrete.
The workshop will last approximately 3.5 hours, during which you will create your own personalised terrazzo coasters.
Aurelie, Make’s resident terrazzo extraordinaire and founder of Aura Living Homeware will show you how to use this “new” material as well as achieving any colour chips and/or base you wish to make your coasters with.
The session will be broken down in 3 parts with a 30 minutes break in between each, which will allow your creations to dry as well as provide you with the opportunity for a short natter over a coffee.
Aurelie will teach you all there is to know about eco resin material, its different applications, and show you some other homeware accessory examples they have been making using this great material.
