Join Open Eye Gallery for a special book club event to compliment their current exhibition Whose Land Is It.
The event is free and held online, 9 September, 6.30pm. See here for tickets.
They will be reading Bila Yarrudhanggalangdhuray by Anita Heiss and discussing it in relation to our exhibiting works by James Tylor, Atong Atem and Amanda Williams. They will talk through themes of ownership, belonging, land and water rights, and the environment.
Set in the 1850s, Bila Yarrudhanggalangdhuray by Anita Heiss opens with Murrumbidgee river breaking its banks and flooding the town, leaving its residents to cope with the outcome. They follow the story of Wagadhaany as she leaves her town and begins a slow process of healing while searching for her own history.
They encourage book club goers to have read the book and visited Whose Land Is It in their gallery or virtually, however it is not essential to join the discussion.
