Multi award winning Imaginarium Theatre (formerly MATE Productions) present Shakespeare’s greatest love story as an indulgent feast for the senses.

The pulsing Carnevale rhythms merging with Italian Opera, explosive fight choreography, thrilling fire dancing, masks and spectacle and a pair of star crossed lovers destined for violent ends.

Artistic Director Gaynor La Rocca says: We are delighted to be once again working in partnership with the Shakespeare North Trust, Arts Council England and the Royal Shakespeare Company as they re-launch as Imaginarium Theatre UK.

Over 100 community performers and volunteers have been involved in the creative process of Romeo and Juliet, and the accompanying schools knife crime programme Violent Ends will engage a further 6000 young people this autumn.

Led by an exciting creative team that includes British Equity Fight Director Renny Krupinski (BBC, ITV, RSC, The Globe), Broadway and West End Choreographer Beverley Edmonds (Around the World in 80 Days, Worst Witch), Royal Shakespeare Company Associate Director Michael Corbidge and others, Romeo and Juliet promises to be a dynamic outdoor treat.

Take a picnic and a bottle of wine and enjoy Shakespeare’s greatest romance in the sunshine or under the stars, whatever you prefer.
