Exploring the relationship between Britain and India with reference to Empire, enslavement, luxury consumerism and Indian textiles, Slaves of Fashion features some 20 new artworks by renowned artist duo the Singh Twins.
Known primarily for their hand-painted work in the Indian tradition, the Singh Twins’ new works combine these traditional techniques with digitally-created images, with 11 fabric artworks displayed on light boxes and a further nine works on paper uncovering the relationship between trade, conflict and consumerism in an age of Empire and the modern day.
The exhibition also features objects from across National Museums Liverpool’s collections, which inspired the new works.
