The film Suzi Q charts the professional career of Detroit-born, UK-based singer/ songwriter/bassist/bandleader/actor/poet Susan Kay Quatro, the first female-rocker to break through into the mainstream.
With unlimited access to Quatro and contributions from collaborators, family and those she has inspired, the film documents both Suzi’s personal life and a remarkable 53 years on the road – a career which continues, with a new album released this month and over 100 shows scheduled for 2019.
Artists featuring in the film in addition to Suzi herself, include Alice Cooper, Deborah Harry, Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads), Joan Jett and Cherie Currie (The Runaways), Happy Days co-star Henry Winkler, KT Tunstall, Australian-born record-producer /songwriter Mike Chapman, numerous members of the very musical Quatro family and many more.
The film will be followed by a Q&A with Suzi Quatro, in conversation with Liverpool’s Head of UNESCO City of Music, Kevin McManus.
