Are you interested in the potential for bamboo to contribute to a be er climate? Do you want to be part of developing a new living artwork connecting new bamboo growers across the Liverpool City Region and the UK?
The team invite you to take part in Taking Root, a collaborative community growing experiment, exploring our relationship with our environment and the potential for bamboo – formerly known as the ‘Bad Boy of British Horticulture’ – to tackle the climate crisis and contribute to a more sustainable future.
What Is My Involvement?
Free baby Borinda bamboo plants will be given to volunteer Bamboo Parents across the Liverpool City Region to grow in your own home or garden between early May – early July. You will each be given access to a digital pla orm to monitor the plant’s growth, learn more about bamboo’s impact on the climate, and check in with other Bamboo Parents and our resident plant expert.
Later on 2 July 2022, you will take part in a grand Planting Ceremony, where your plant can take root permanently in the Liverpool City Region acting as a symbol of our collective commitment to tackling the climate crisis.
Each baby Borinda bamboo plant is po ed in a 2 litre pot, it requires plenty of sunlight, and should be placed in an outdoor location.
