The Wirral Open Studio Tour returns to the Williamson Art Gallery, with five local artists showing their work and their practice within the gallery spaces.
The Williamson (Studio 5 on the Wirral Studio Tour map) hosts five artists to set up their ‘studio’ within the gallery for the weekend – artist Joseph Venning, who produced the wonderful mural in Gallery Six and who has shown previously in both WOST at WAG and the Oxton Art Fair, award-winning photographer George Evans, who supplies prints and cards for the gift shop, LiWei Chen, who has exhibited during WOST at WAG and led classes in the art of Chinese brush painting for adult art classes, David Jones, whose intricate and detailed drawings and models reflect the maritime gallery and newcomer to WOST at WAG, photographer Karen Lawrence.
For almost a decade, WOST has been welcoming hundreds of visitors to its open studio weekend to see local professional and semi-professional artists from across the peninsula showcase their work. This relaxed, informal and rapidly expanding event means art lovers have the opportunity to mooch through studios, homes, gardens and exhibition spaces to chat and engage with artists and makers of almost every discipline.
The tour’s aim is to encourage visitors understand the artists’ inspirations and creative techniques, share in their passion for the creative arts and help celebrate this culture-filled weekend.
