Liverpool Philharmonic is one of the world’s oldest concert societies, encompassing the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Music Room & award-winning music education programmes.

The Liverpool Philharmonic Hall is an art-deco style Grade II listed building located on Liverpool’s well-known and well-loved Hope Street within the city’s Georgian Quarter.

In 1840, a group of Liverpool music lovers founded The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. It is one of the world’s oldest concert societies with the award-winning Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at the heart of it along with its associated ensembles and concert series; the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir; Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company and Children’s Choirs.

In 2021 Domingo Hindoyan replaced Vasily Petrenko as Chief Conductor. Hindoyan builds on the legacy of Vasily Petrenko who stepped down after 15 years and who has now assumed the role of Conductor Laureate.

But the 60 orchestral concerts a year is not all that takes place at ‘the Phil’, a wide range of classical, contemporary and roots music, rock, pop and folk music, an amazing unique cinema experience and a top stand-up comedy line-up also take to the stage.

In 2015, a refurbishment was completed, adding a new more intimate venue, Music Room. The Music Room hosts a wide range of concerts and events, complimenting the main Hall’s programme. The space is designed to let audiences get closer to the music.’
