The Movema team are busy preparing for their largest celebration of Chinese New Year to date.
Liverpool’s world dance company are looking for dancers and volunteers to lead celebrations for Liverpool’s Chinese New Year parade.
For the last 8 years Movema has been involved in bringing colourful and celebratory Chinese dance to the event.
This year will celebrate the elements: Water, air, fire, wood and metal – to bring in the year of the Rat, the first animal of the Chinese Zodiac representing the beginning of a new day and wealth.
Dancers are to be passionate, with some experience. Movema’s aim is to celebrate diversity through dance by bringing people together to share, grow and have fun.
Volunteers are to be interested in getting involved with the following roles: costume and make up, music and tech support, and being a friendly face to answer questions, help to complete paperwork and crowd management.
To get involved contact the Movema team to confirm your place, and find out about rehearsal and induction dates.
The team of dancers and volunteers will join the 6 community and youth groups engaged in Movema’s award winning youth dance programme “Unlock the Box” funded by BBC Children in Need. They are now practising their moves learned from Pei Tong and their brilliant team of dance leaders.
