Independent Biennial 2018 are offering commissions covering all councils, and in Sefton they want to commission work by emerging artists. The commission is for £1000 to cover time and materials, towards a one-day event to take place outdoors on 28th July 2018.
The Atkinson in Southport will launch the annual Sefton Open exhibition on 28th July, and they hope to create a one off event in front of the gallery, in the iconic Princess Diana Gardens which centres on engagement.
Applications could include performance, talks, intervention, film screenings, projection or pop up installations, but must consider how the work will engage audiences in the written application.
Practitioners from all areas of visual art can apply, but it is preferred that applicants have a connection to Sefton (past or present, personal or professional). The commission encourages applications from artists from diverse backgrounds with unique perspectives.
You may apply as a group, individual artists, or organisations.
To apply send 500 words outlining your proposed activity, a brief history of your practice (2-300 words), artists CV, and up to 5 images of your work (as .jpeg files each below 1MB) to independents@artinliverpool.com by 9am on the 15th May 2018.
Applications sent after this time will not be considered for commissions, but may still be considered for the open programme.
