Somewhere in Ely is a project in partnership with Babylon Arts exploring community commissioning of art.
They are looking for artists to respond to the creative brief with ideas for temporary artworks, performances, interactions and site-specific works.
In total 3 artists will be commissioned to create work to share with the wider public in Autumn 2020. One artist has already been identified, but they are looking for 2 more proposals to fund.
WHO?
Artists, makers, creators, performers and practitioners. They particularly welcome expressions of interest from artists with experience of site-specific, interactive or socially engaged work.
WHERE?
The project is taking place in Ely, Cambridgeshire. They are looking for work that local people can see, enjoy or interact with in public locations in the city.
HOW MUCH?
£1800 commission, plus an additional expenses budget of up to £300
WHEN?
Deadline for proposals: Friday 22 May, 12 noon.
Four shortlisted artists will be invited to share their ideas with the public through an online video pitch. In June/ July the local community in Ely will then vote for their favourite.
The commissioned artists will create work to share with the wider public in October 2020.
