At the Lantern Company, they’ve always looked for ways to inspire creative action, counter isolation, support issues they care about and build those community connections.
So, they’re launching a hyper-local DIY street festival pack– with specially designed activities, plus tips and hints to get connected and start that revolution, street by street.
Lantern Co have micro commission opportunities for 6 artists to create inspiring ‘how to’ guides, in a range of activities that when put together, form a cohesive backbone of a micro community celebration, creative action or trail – on your street, or block, or in your local open space.
In addition, Lantern Co will provide a set of helpful tips about how to get things organised.
A micro festival blueprint to get the party started!
Artists Mini Commissions
The brief is to produce an easy and fun ‘how to’ guide on one of the areas listed below, that people can make or do with materials and resources readily available at home. It should involve recycled elements. Ideally your activity will work for different ages and abilities.
You will need to actively encourage inventive alternatives when it comes to materials and resources.
The ‘how to’ guide will need to be available both as a filmed version (filmed on a phone is fine), showing step by step stages for online viewing, and also submitted into a PDF template document, that can be downloaded and shared.
