Two of dot-art’s member artists, sculptor Tony Evans and painter Rob Edmondson have recently appeared on the BBC 1 programme Home Is Where The Art Is.
They have been overwhelmed by the response to their work from viewers across the country.
The show, which sees three talented artists compete to create a commissioned artwork for people they’ve never met, is currently showing its second series on BBC 1.
Both Tony and Rob had their stunning pieces of work chosen by the homeowners, and the response has been fantastic, with Tony’s waiting list for commissions now approaching 12 months.
Born and raised in Liverpool, Tony Evans now enjoys the beautiful Cheshire countryside surrounding his home in Kingsley.
After working in Liverpool for The Prudential for over 30 years he turned to his long-suppressed passion for art. At age 55 he attended Liverpool City College where he achieved GCSE and A Levels and subsequently emerged from Wirral Metropolitan College aged 58 with a B.A. Honours Degree in Fine Art.
He has been a professional sculptor ever since, completing commissions for high profile clients including Chester Cathedral, City of Liverpool College and Cherie Blair. He has been working with dot-art for the past 11 years.
Rob taught art for over 40 years before taking early retirement to focus on his own painting. He now creates stunning evocations of the landscapes of the North West and beyond.
Composition and colour are very important to Rob, with light and movement influencing the finished artwork to create jewel-like colours and fresh interpretations of natural landscapes. He has been with dot-art for 5 years.
He said of the experience: “Filming the show was a real eye opener – I had no idea it would take almost 40 hours of filming for a 45 minute program, however the whole process was highly enjoyable and inspirational. After initially struggling with the brief, it was really gratifying to complete a painting that was so well received.”
If watching the show has inspired you to commission some art for your own home, dot-art has been helping people do just that for almost 15 years!
They can guide you through the whole process, whatever your budget. They work with over 100 local painters, sculptors and photographers so they can help you find the perfect artist to work with.
