Think Circus CIC are seeking a freelance circus artist to join their small creative team for a four-week contract from 22nd February – 20th March 2021.
This will be to undertake creative development and filming of a new circus project entitled Imagined Bodies.
Supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland, Imagined Bodies is a circus film created online as a digital collaboration (using Zoom, phone and video-sharing), with artists working in pairs to create short duets about body image.
The duets will be shared as a short film, and artists will work with a professional videographer to record them.
Responding to the increased focus on appearance during lockdowns of 2020, the work is based around the insidious, everyday negative thoughts people experience in relation to their physical bodies.
Imagined Bodies will not focus on the individual experiences of performers, but will explore shared themes around body image through the medium of circus. They will also highlight and signpost ways to increase self-esteem and body confidence as part of the work and as a panel discussion at the first screening.
They welcome applications from a range of ground-based disciplines including (but not limited to):
juggling, manipulation, physical theatre, dance and acrobatics.
Please note this is a freelance contract and the fee is £2,400. Applications close 22 January.
