The main aim of the “In my Art” project is to empower young people to take action towards social inclusion and intercultural community-building, especially in multicultural contexts where migrant people have fewer opportunities in getting involved into host communities as active citizens.
Following the needs/context analysis carried out by partner organisations, In My Art project pursues the following objectives:
1. Increase awareness of youth workers and organisations on the real needs and desires of young people, to effectively adapt methods and practices based on arts into different multicultural contexts.
2. Share and develop effective and sustainable practices inspired by “Arte Migrante” method among organisations, to build inclusive communities based on the culture of dialogue, cohesion, valorisation of diversity and non-discrimination.
3. Promote active participation of young people in their community, with a focus on youth at risk of marginalisation because of their cultural, social and economic obstacles.
The events are based on Arte Migrante methodology (www.artemigrante.eu). Started in Italy in 2012, Arte Migrante is constituted of people across Europe organising regular creative sessions open to everybody, aiming at promoting inclusion though art. During the creative sessions participants have the opportunity to get to know each other and to share their art: music, dance, theatre, poetry, painting etc.
In the next two events they will plan together the future UK monthly sessions with young people.
If the idea inspires you and if you would like to make a difference in the local community, building together an open space where young people can join and learn from each other, register for their info-days by Monday 25th January, here.
