Bolton Library and Museum Services are seeking writers and artists to work with them on an exciting new project.
Bolton’s Lost Words will use nature and reading to connect people, improve wellbeing and celebrate the joy of stories and libraries.
They are looking for writers and artists to work with community groups and their local libraries in the following areas of Bolton: Breightmet; Farnworth; High Street (Daubhill); Westhoughton and Central Bolton.
With the support of library staff and local partner organisations, you will work with the community group to create a story trail for the local area, which is inspired by the ideas of the group and nature poems from The Lost Words by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris.
There are ten commissions available (five for writers and five for artists) across the five libraries. Each commission is for £1,225 including materials, and you can apply for more than one.
This project will suit people who are creative, enjoy working with members of the local community and enjoy using nature as inspiration for their art / writing.
They encourage and welcome expressions of interest to broaden the diversity of the writers and artists they work with. They particularly welcome applications from people from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds; LGBT+ people; disabled people and people who are currently facing challenging circumstances due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
They also particularly welcome expressions of interest from people living in the Breightmet, Farnworth, High Street, Westhoughton and Central Bolton areas.
To apply, please send a short expression of interest (maximum 500 words), including an overview of your art / writing and any relevant experience to emma.bateson@bolton.gov.uk by 5pm on Friday 2nd July.
