The team are looking for one Actor (any gender) with strong vocal skills to take part in a period of Research & Development in September 2021 for “Hello Operator”.
“Hello Operator” is a new performance exploring local stories at the heart of communities and places. It fuses audience participation, scripted voice acting & improvisation, with on the spot foley art to create a live broadcasted radio drama to an invited audiences of community participants.
This project has been funded by Arts Council England through Project Grants and is supported by Full of Noises, Barrow-In-Furness.
They are particularly interested in working with a performer based in the area or with strong links to Cumbria who enjoys using both scripted dialogue and improv- through live conversation with community members- to discover old and contemporary legends about the history and people of Barrow, in both the everyday occurrences of life right through to the magical.
They require someone with experience and confidence in collaboration, devising, improvisation and learning short scripts.
They are looking for performers who have a strong vocal ability, good at different accents (a Barrow accent is a plus) and excellent improvisation skills.
They are looking for performers able to represent folk across a diversity of experience, so we actively encourage submissions from people all ages from 20 – 60 from diverse and under-represented backgrounds, and especially from Barrow and the surrounding area of Cumbria.
Dates: Wednesday 8th – Sunday 12th September 2021 (5 days in total).
Fee: £500 in total (at £100 per day), plus £50 travel expenses.
