As The Reader adapted their services and support during the pandemic – running activities online and over the phone – their box office evolved to facilitate new virtual format events and activities, and commercial events where pre-booking and capacity limitations were a must.
While ticketing was only required for public sessions and performances pre Covid-19, such as family events in the Storybarn, outdoor theatre in the Mansion’s Garden Theatre, Heritage Open Day Tours and one-off regular commercial events, self-led trails and pop up commercial and programming events have all required some element of box office support.
Despite the drastic reduction in activities in and around lockdown restrictions, the box office processed over a total of 2,900 tickets in FY20-21.
Due to this growing need for box office support across the organisation, The Reader is now looking for someone with hands on experience of setting up a high performing box office function within a creative and dynamic organisation.
They’re looking for an individual who loves people – because this role will interface with the public, volunteers and across teams – and who will thrive on the challenge of really pushing the current box office set up forward. They need someone with technical skills to manage the system who also has a head for process design and collaboration, and the front of house skills to support the delivery of a wide variety of events and activities.
Closing date: 16 September
