Knowsley will be the Liverpool City Region’s ‘Borough of Culture’ in 2022 and planning an exciting programme of activities and events.
They are now seeking a number of freelance Event Managers to support an outdoor programme of public cultural events between January and March 2022. There may be other opportunities throughout the year in addition to this.
Introduction
In January 2022 Knowsley will become the Liverpool City Region’s Borough of Culture (BoC). The year provides Knowsley with an opportunity to engage with people from across the Liverpool City Region and give residents, businesses and communities a chance to celebrate the very many cultural connections, talents and heritage of the borough.
Background
The award of Liverpool City Region Borough of Culture (BoC) was inspired by the UK City of Culture programme, which followed on from Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture in 2008.
It was introduced by Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority in 2018 to encourage and enable each Borough to deliver cultural programmes which create a legacy across the whole region.
The final programme of events for Knowsley’s year as Borough of Culture is still being finalised. However, the overall theme for the year will be ‘Storytelling’ and there will be a large array of activities and events to interest all parts of the community. Importantly these will also be planned to cover many facets of ‘culture’ and what it means to local people – everything from outdoor spectacles, music, to art, theatre, comedy, sport and much more.
Contract and Payments
The events in January to March are outdoor lighting events ranging from 3 days duration to
20 days. As a result, each event will have different needs and requirements from an Events Manager in terms of preparation and delivery. Maximum days per freelance contract will be 25 days. The daily rate is £200.
The Council will work with the freelance Events Managers to agree the relevant event, timescales, etc. This will involve evening and weekend working.
