The Youth Engagement Forum at National Museums Liverpool would like to invite all young people from across the city to participate in their Walter Sickert Pop-Up event at Walker Art Gallery.
No previous knowledge of art or Walter Sickert is required. The Youth Engagement Forum have created their first major event and have produced and designed some fun and engaging activities for all visitors to take part in.
Storytelling & Poetry:
Join John Hughes, Storyteller and Poet as he does a storytelling performance at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm inspired by the Sickert Exhibition.
John Hughes is a storyteller, performance poet and writer who works with children and young people. Renowned for his interactive performances, creative writing workshops, games, riddles and truly painful jokes, John loves having imaginative fun with words and encourages others to do the same.
He works in schools, libraries, museums, galleries, hospitals, festivals, shopping centres, zoos and, well, almost anywhere, really. Basically, he’s not that fussy. He’s also a pop star (in his dreams), a dancer (in his kitchen) and an expert chocolate taster (in his pyjamas). “John Hughes is amazing,” says John’s mum.
Join young people from the Youth Engagement Forum to write your own poetry and creative writing inspired by the Sickert Exhibition.
Pop up Theatre:
Join the team for some relaxing music that inspired Sickert from the music halls and theatres in his paintings and draw like Sickert did!
Sketch like Sickert:
Looking at Sickert’s drawings and paintings as an inspiration, draw on their long roll of paper and help to create a collaborative drawing.
Young people from the Youth Engagement Forum will be around all day to give talks to young people about Sickert’s artwork and the Youth Engagement Forum.
All activities are free of charge, no booking is required. Discover more about the Youth Engagement Forum.
