Home to a mix of leisure and entertainment brands and has been given the green light for an extensive refurbishment which will see the landlords deliver a state-of-theart digital ceiling, in addition to substantial improvements to the internal and external facades with new entrance features, lighting and signage.
This brief outlines the opportunity for an artist to create a new large-scale artwork which will take centre stage in this iconic building and will be viewed by millions of people.
Printworks and leading event producers Wild in Art, who brought Bee in the City to Manchester in 2018, are seeking to commission an artist to develop a new visual public artwork as part of the development of Printworks. The artist commission will reflect the objectives of the Printworks’ and Manchester City Council’s Public Art Policy and Strategy, which seeks to ensure the inclusion of artists in the development of the built environment.
The Commissioners are looking for a stunning, visually engaging artwork that will animate the public space. This opportunity is open to artists with links to Greater Manchester and it is an exciting opportunity for an artist to have their work featured as part of a progressive development project which will be seen by millions of visitors to this iconic city centre venue.
To be considered for the Art Commission, artists must provide an Outline Submission (expression of interest) in response to the full Artist Brief (Commission Brief) to be submitted by email to artists@wildinart.co.uk
Outline Submissions must include a CV, examples of past work and a short statement of interest in response to the brief, detailing the proposed artistic style and general concept overview in no more than 400 words. Deadline for submission: Monday 14 March 2022 at 5pm.
