Manchester Art Gallery is looking for a skilled, practical and dynamic person to be part of our technical team.
They’re looking for a friendly and collaborative team player with proven experience in packing, moving, installing and de-installing museum collections. You will enjoy solving technical problems and have an awareness of the latest materials for exhibition, display, loan out and storage of art.
You’ll have an appropriate craft qualification or equivalent experience, with excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail. You’ll enjoy learning new things every day, thinking about risks, sharing knowledge, and working in a fast-paced environment with a team of passionate people. Effective communication is essential to this role, as are attention to detail, excellent planning, time management and documentation skills.
Their key priority for the next five years is to deliver a capital programme across all three of their sites to re-think, re-organise and re-home their collections alongside the civic role of the gallery in relation to migration, climate emergency, work, identity politics and health and wellbeing.
You will bring your technical skills and creativity and provide support to a team carrying out high quality installations, collections moves and storage improvements.
