The team are excited to be recruiting a fixed term post for a Project Officer, to deliver the public engagement element of a University of Manchester-led research project.
The project that this post will deliver will test how heritage organisations can become important sites for developing public healthcare knowledge in partnership with their visitors, by placing historic healthcare practices at the centre of its public and learning programmes.
This role is managed by the University of Manchester but based largely at Ordsall Hall alongside the site team. It will support the public engagement work of the new research project Sleeping Well in the Early Modern World, funded by the Wellcome Trust.
The Project Officer will be responsible for the effective development, management and delivery of high-quality public engagement and research impact activity. They will bring their rich experience of learning in museums and historic venues to take an active role in developing and strengthening a public programme to support learners of all ages and backgrounds to engage with the project’s research outcomes.
The project is particularly committed to working with young people by offering hands-on outdoor learning opportunities that will complement the PSHE (Personal, Social, and Health Education) objectives now mandatory in primary and secondary schools, emphasising the importance of, and connections between ‘sufficient sleep’ and ‘time spent outdoors’ for the maintenance of physical and mental health.
The post is part time 0.4 FTE, 14 hours per week
