Manchester Art Gallery is looking for two Collections Management Officers to help deliver an ambitious programme of collections moves and collection review projects across our three sites – Manchester Art Gallery, Platt Hall and Queens Park Conservation Studios.
Their main strategic priority for the next four years is to deliver a capital programme across our sites to improve collection storage and address long standing problems with our buildings, whilst continuing to deliver a cultural offer that attracts up to 730,000 visitors a year.
You will bring experience of museum documentation and a sound understanding of collections management standards and relevant legal and ethical requirements. You will have a good knowledge of collections care requirements and experience of using collections management databases to manage and improve collection information.
Working with colleagues across the organisation, artists, volunteers, and other partners, you will work in a collaborative way and be a strong team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and learn from others. You will have strong organisational skills, proven research ability and an interest in the challenges and ethical considerations affecting the management of museum collections.
