Reporting to the Head of Walker Art Gallery, this specialist posts offers the opportunity to work with National Museums Liverpool’s internationally significant collection of British art.
Housed across our three art galleries, the Walker Art Gallery, Lady Lever Art Gallery and Sudley House, the collection includes paintings, sculpture, works on paper, video, and installation art, covering the Medieval period to the present day. Our 18th and 19th century collections are particularly rich, and our Victorian and Pre-Raphaelite holdings are amongst the most important in the world.
They are looking for a Curator with a subject specialism in the 18th or 19th century, who can help continue to grow our knowledge and understanding of the collection, in line with the department’s research priorities, which include the surfacing of under-represented histories in our displays and interpretation.
With an exciting vision for the development and display of the collection, you will be passionate about sharing your knowledge and learning from others, with a focus on building an inclusive visitor offer for a diverse audience. Aware of current best practice in the sector and the issues museums and galleries are working with today, you will ensure the British Fine Art collection remains relevant and accessible.
