Saint Vespaluus

Venue Jimmy's
Admission £7
Start Time 19:30
End Time 23:00

Saint Vespaluus last played a headlining date at Jimmy’s back in 2021. It was our most popular and best attended Spoken Word gig so far.

Saint is a legendary cult figure on the Merseyside poetry scene. After penning a much loved and frequently controversial column for the football fanzine When Skies Are Grey for many years, he returned to live performances in 2020.

Since then he has built up a fabulous reputation with his mixture of Spoken Word, stand up, acapella singing and outrageous cabaret.

Saint Vespaluus curates three monthly Spoken Word events in Liverpool and has played numerous festivals and events over the past year, including gigs in Edinburgh, Glasgow Leeds and Manchester, but now he’s back with a solo gig at Jimmy’s. Expect poems and tales covering such diverse topics as the problems of growing up in a heteronormative world; the uses and abuses of the English language; the horrors of “entitled middle-class South Liverpool bastards” stealing clothes from charity shops; quite a lot about sex, and of course the nightmares of trying to watch Gary Numan on TV with “your military arl fella”!

A fabulous night is guaranteed.

Full support TBA.

Nigel Blackwell: “Just how good is Saint Vespaluus?”

Nick Ellis: “Saint Vespaluus is one of the city’s best kept secrets.”
