Calling all dedicated Indian classical dancers in the UK!
We have an incredible opportunity for you to be a part of a highly-acclaimed dance-drama to be staged at Indika 2023!
Do you have at least 5 years of training in an Indian classical dance form? Are you a passionate dancer currently practicing? We’re on the lookout for seven talented dancers to join the cast of ‘Sita’s Magical Forest,’ a magical children’s theatrical-dance production.
About ‘Sita’s Magical Forest’
Originally produced and staged in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region by Apsaras Arts, this enchanting production has seen numerous sold-out tours. Now, it’s set to make its UK debut at Indika Festival 2023, featuring an entirely UK-based cast, and that could be you!
Synopsis: Derived from the revered Indian mythological epic, the Ramayana, ‘Sita’s Magical Forest’ is a mesmerizing dance-drama for children. It narrates the trials and triumphs of Rama and Sita through captivating storytelling and dance. Sita shares tales of war, bravery, friendship, loyalty, and devotion, woven into her adventures with the forest’s fascinating animals, including an eagle, bear, sea monster, crow, frog, squirrel, golden deer, Hanuman, and his band of monkeys. The production boasts the music of classical pianist Anil Srinivasan, choreography by Mohanapriyan Thavarajah, and artistic direction by Aravinth Kumarasamy of Apsaras Arts (Singapore).

Rehearsal and Performance Commitments: If selected, you’ll receive individual training sessions, followed by full ensemble rehearsals. Before you apply, ensure your availability for the following dates in Liverpool:
- Oct 22nd – 28th (3 training sessions, 1.5 hours each)
- Oct 29th & Nov 1st – Full cast rehearsals
- Nov 2nd – Performance at Indika
All travel, accommodation, meals, and a fee will be provided by Milap.
Other Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of training in an Indian classical dance form
- Continuous practice (no recent long breaks)
- Availability for the specified Liverpool dates
- Right to live and work in the UK
