20 Stories High are casting for 4 female (inclusive of trans and cis women) performers, playing age 18-30 for a tour of who the f–k is shakespeare? Created by Ameera Conrad.
THE SHOW:
who the f–k is shakespeare? is a radical political occupation of some of Shakespeare’s most iconic works. Using a Black, Feminist, Queer lens, writer-director Ameera Conrad explores the role of women and femme people in Shakespeare. These characters come to life to blow the dust off the classics and rip through the paper ceiling to tell their stories in a textual mashup of Shakespearean verse, poetry, music, and rap. The text is written in both modern and Shakespearean English.
While the characters have traditionally been portrayed in certain ways, we encourage new and bold interpretations of them.
Unless otherwise stated, there are no physical specifications for the characters.
We use the term “women” as inclusive of cis-, trans-, femme, butch, AFAB or AMAB.
We are currently auditioning for a touring production of the show which will perform in a combination of theatre spaces, community spaces, and schools.
