The team are looking for volunteers from all over Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Halton to join and become Speak out. Stay Safe School Volunteers.
What does the role involve?
As a Speak out. Stay safe volunteer, you’ll visit primary schools to deliver workshops that teach children about the different types of abuse and how they can speak out and stay safe. Workshops are age-appropriate and memorable, and need enthusiastic people, passionate about children’s rights and wellbeing, to deliver them. You’ll work alongside other volunteers to help children feel empowered and know who they can speak to if they ever have any worries.
What do I need for the role?
You do not need to have previous experience of working with children to apply – just a desire to help spread important safeguarding messages to them.
Similarly, you do not need to have any classroom or teaching experience for the role – in fact, most volunteers don’t! Full training and extensive support is given to all volunteers.
But they do want people who:
- are passionate about the wellbeing of children;
- are happy working as part of a team;
- would love to learn new skills;
- are able to travel to primary schools in their local area; and,
- can fit in 2 school visits a month. (Times can vary depending on the size/location of the school. Visits tend to take place in the morning, and Schools Coordinators aim to be flexible around volunteers where possible.)
I’m interested! What’s the next step?
It’s an easy one! The next step is to attend a Volunteer Information Meeting (virtual), which is a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the ins and outs of the role, learn more about the application process and ask any questions you have.
These meetings are designed to help you decide whether you want to apply – there’s no obligation or expectation that you’ll apply if you attend one.
Where do I sign up for a Virtual Info Meeting?

And if I have any questions right now?
The Schools Coordinator for Halton, Cheshire East and Cheshire West is Becky Stretton, and she would LOVE to hear from anyone interested in the role. You can email her: Becky.Stretton@NSPCC.org.uk
