Are you aged 16 – 24 and interested in the history of dance music and rave culture? Are you a budding photographer or graphic designer? Maybe you want to learn to mix or produce your own tracks?
They’re looking for young people to get involved in their project about the first legal, all-night rave in the country: Quadrant Park in Bootle.
Each session is open to all aged between 16 – 24.
They’re offering taster sessions this summer so you can try out different skills and activities before a bigger project in September. They include:
Interviewing workshop – Saturday 20th July, 11:00am -1:00pm
Learn key interviewing skills that will help any budding journalists, writers or radio DJs work with artists and other creatives
Risograph graphic design session – Tuesday 30th July, 18:00pm – 20:00pm
Using some of the iconic designs from Quad’s history to create our own promotional material like flyers, posters and tickets
Production workshop – Saturday 3rd August, 11:00-13:00
Melissa will teach us how to sample, using some of the biggest tunes from Quad and voice samples from our interviews to create new tracks
DJ workshop – Tuesday 6th August, 18:00-20:00
Melissa will teach a small group the basics of mixing and beat matching. They’ll have a few people per deck and we’ll use some of the original equipment from the Quad era as well as contemporary software to manipulate the sound
All materials will be provided for each session.
