Halton Borough Council are seeking artists (or artist teams) based in the North West to deliver a major public artwork for New Street, Widnes—a key link between the high street and Widnes Shopping Park.
This 57-metre long site offers an opportunity to create a bold, imaginative and visually engaging intervention as part of the Widnes Town Centre Regeneration Framework. The final artwork might be visual, sculptural, text-based, or incorporate digital or interactive elements. However you approach it, they’re looking for work that reflects place, invites curiosity, and encourages people to linger and connect.
What’s involved:
- Respond creatively to the character and use of New Street
- Propose and deliver a public artwork that enhances the route
- Manage all design, production, installation and associated costs
Commission value: Up to £25,000 (inclusive of all costs)
