Documentation Officer

About the Role:

Wirral Museums Service cares for an important and varied collection that reflects the Borough’s artistic, industrial and cultural heritage. We are seeking an organised, detail driven Documentation Officer to help strengthen the accuracy, consistency and accessibility of our collection’s records.

This role sits at the heart of our collections management function. You will lead the delivery of our Documentation Plan, support the reduction of longstanding documentation and accessioning backlogs, and help ensure our records meet professional museum standards. Your work will directly support exhibitions, loans, research, and public access to the collection.

About the candidate:

You will bring a methodical approach, strong organisational skills and the confidence to uphold high standards across documentation activity. You should be comfortable working independently on detailed tasks and capable of guiding others in best practice.

You will join a committed team working to enhance access to Wirral’s collections. The role provides opportunities to contribute to digitisation, cataloguing and public facing projects, alongside professional support and development. Agile working, including some weekends and evenings, may be required in line with service needs.

Interviews to be held on Thursday 2nd April 2026.
