Liverpool Theatre School’s graduating students will put on a dazzling celebration of legendary songwriting duo John Kander and Fred Ebb in a two-night run of And the World Goes Round at the Hope Street Theatre (22-23 June).
The musical revue, starring the school’s talented third year musical theatre students, showcases the work of the team behind smash-hit shows such as Chicago and Cabaret. In one of their last performances as a group before joining the industry as professional entertainers, the students are set to bring the audience to their feet with showstoppers such as All That Jazz and New York, New York.
Liverpool Theatre School Principal Maxine Ellis said: “This production is the culmination of three years of hard work and dedication for our final year musical theatre students. Audiences will have the chance to see them perform ballads, high energy numbers and vaudeville pieces as they showcase the breadth of their talent and versatility in And the World Goes Round.
“It’s a great opportunity for families, friends and frankly anyone who loves musical theatre to enjoy a spectacular show. It’s also a chance to see our talented graduating students on a local stage before they go off to work in the industry.”
Liverpool Theatre School boasts a long list of alumni who have gone on to enjoy successful careers on the stage including Erin Oliver from Southport, who graduated in 2023 and recently joined the West End cast of Oliver! and Bethany Rose Lythgoe from Crosby, who graduated in 2018 and is currently appearing in Starlight Express in the West End. Much-loved Liverpool performer Tim Lucas, who is taking his sell-out show We’re Havin’ a Party around the UK and has starred in productions such as Love’s Labour’s Lost, Blood Brothers and Cilla, also trained at the centre of excellence.
The performing arts school, whose patrons include musical theatre star Anita Dobson and dance legend Wayne Sleep OBE, aims to provide the next generation of professional performers with the skills required to work in the industry. The school offers full-time elite training in musical theatre and dance for students over 16, with fully-funded places and bursaries awarded every year to make professional qualifications more accessible for those from working class backgrounds. Training for younger students is also provided through its Junior Academy.
With a legacy spanning more than 85 years, Liverpool Theatre School continues to be a launchpad for the next generation of the city’s performing arts talent.
Tickets for Liverpool Theatre School’s production of And the World Goes Round are available at £15 from Ticketquarter. The show starts at 7pm on both 22 and 23 June.
