An Australian-American award-winning screenwriter and playwright’s debut play, Seasons of You, is receiving its world-premiere performance at Liverpool’s Unity Theatre.
After more than a decade writing screenplays and working in Los Angeles, Joanne Rose was at a creative crossroads. A first trip to London in 2024 sparked her interest in theatre, and she enrolled at Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) to rediscover the foundations of storytelling and reconnect with my creativity.
The play began life as a screenplay Joanne had actually deleted during a period of writer’s block. She recovered it from the computer’s trash folder, and through NIDA it evolved into a stage play. It went on to be selected for several UK scratch nights in 2026, and is now making its way to the professional stage in Liverpool.
Seasons of You is a romantic drama about a novelist who travels to London to co-write the autobiography of a musician, only to find that their professional relationship becomes something much more personal.
