The countdown to Christmas has officially begun as Liverpool ONE kicked off the festive season with an evening of festive entertainment and celebrations for all.
The retail and leisure destination kept the whole family entertained tonight (Friday 11 November) with an array of yuletide activities, glowing Christmas decorations, a never-before-seen neon Christmas tree and many other neon installations!
Transforming into a winter wonderland, Liverpool ONE unveiled its new, larger-than-life neon Christmas tree at the centre of the ski holiday-inspired Liverpool Alpine Village on Chavasse Park.
Liverpool ONE’s new neon Christmas tree stands 18 metres above sea level, making it one of the tallest artificial trees in the UK. A further five, eight metre-high neon trees have also been installed in Paradise Street, encouraging visitors to enjoy a vibrant new design this year.
Presented by Bar Hütte and situated on Chavasse Park, Liverpool Alpine Village is a new Christmas attraction for 2022, which gives visitors the chance to leave the real world outside as they step into a winter wonderland.
From karaoke hüttes, curling and shuffle boarding, to prosecco pong and even wreath making, The Alpine Village has festive family events covered for the rest of the season.
To kick off the festive season, visitors were treated to a spot of panto magic, with the cast of M&S Bank Arena’s Aladdin taking to the stage in South John Street, featuring Radio City presenter Leanne Campbell. Family favourite A Christmas Carol, performed by Shakespeare North Playhouse, along with RAWD performances from Unity Theatre, were also included in the mix.
Other must-see acts included performances from the talented dancers from The Hammond School, SingMe Merseyside, Pop Vox and Liverpool Indie Choirs, while Santa and Mrs Claus led a festive piano sing-a-long.
Donna Howitt, Place Strategy Director at Liverpool ONE, said: “Each year, our Christmas launch night is a very special occasion and this year is extra special, thanks to our new neon tree and Alpine Village.
“It’s been fantastic to see everyone enjoying themselves tonight and getting into the festive spirit – we can’t wait to welcome visitors this Christmas and we are looking forward to showcasing our new offerings to everyone.”
Adding to the celebrations to launch Christmas at Liverpool ONE were tap dancing turkeys, giant Christmas crackers and dancing elves.
