Young theatre-makers can now apply to be a part of the Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse’s Young Everyman Playhouse (YEP) Programme for 2018.
The programme is designed to develop and nurture young theatre makers of the future, through a hands-on course giving YEP members real-life experience of working in regional theatre.
With the guidance of experienced theatre staff; aspiring actors, directors, technicians, producers, writers and marketers are given the opportunity to learn new skills, working on real-time productions throughout the course.
YEP students are given the opportunity to gain valuable experience in their chosen area by shadowing professional directors, developing ideas for new plays, setting up sound and lighting for shows, working with artistic teams to produce performances and designing material to market productions to audiences.
Places are limited, with the directors, technicians, producers, writers and marketers’ programmes open to people aged 18 to 25 and the actors programme open to the ages of 14 to 22.
Alumni from YEP have gone onto work on projects across the UK including the Giant Spectacular in Liverpool, the Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre and full-time positions at the Everyman & Playhouse.
Natasha Patel is a YEP Producers programme graduate and currently working as a producer through the Stage One placement scheme in London.
She said: “Joining Young Everyman Playhouse in 2015 was a real turning point in setting me on my career path. I was able to gain a one-year assistant producer traineeship at the Everyman & Playhouse, which was an incredible opportunity to learn from the professional producers.
“This provided me with the experience I needed for my next role as an assistant producer at HOME in Manchester, and for my current job working in the commercial theatre sector in London.
“YEP was a safe space surrounded by supportive people which, enabled me to get my first taste of theatre producing. I wouldn’t be where I was today without it.”
Closing dates vary depending on the programme strand. For more information and to apply visit www.everymanplayhouse.com/YEP.
