We are seeking to appoint two Assistant Directors for our upcoming BA (Hons) Acting Level 6 Productions for the Winter Season of live public performances (Oct-Dec 2023).
The successful candidates will assistant on two productions each as part of our Winter ‘Rep Season’ and will work alongside guest directors from industry to prepare productions for performance. These periods will be the w/c 16th October 2023 to w/c 20th November 2023 and w/c 6th November 2023 to w/c 11th December 2023.
Duties include scheduling rehearsal calls; running rehearsal rooms; collaborating with the director/stage management/designers/technicians, and working with contemporary texts, and students to prepare performance work.
Applicants should be graduates from LIPA and have proven interest/experience in directing for theatre. Ideally, they will have directed smaller studio or touring theatre productions and/or be actively involved in making their own work. They should have experience in preparing text for performance, running a rehearsal room, and working with stage management, designers, and technical teams. Experience of working in Higher Education/Conservatoires would be advantageous but is not essential.
Please note these are fixed term appointments for 6 weeks (per role). LIPA is not able to offer accommodation, travel or additional subsistence, so applicants should be living in the North-West or have a base here.
