Assistant Tutors – Hope Mill Theatre School, closes 31 March

Hope Mill Theatre School is seeking exceptional Assistants for their brand-new Theatre School based in Ancoats, Manchester. HMTS is part of Hope Mill Theatre and The Factory of Creativity CIO.

Launching in June 2021, HMTS will provide young people aged 4-16 with access to affordable drama training in the heart of the North West.

Classes will take place between 10:30am and 1:30pm on Saturdays during term time. The hope is that more weekend classes will be added as the school grows. The school will open for two trial sessions from the 29th May, then for a six-week term from June.

From September the school will run twelve-week terms in line with the Manchester school holidays. There will also be teaching opportunities at the HMTS Summer School in August. Assistants will be paid £10 per hour.

HMTS Assistants will be responsible for assisting the Tutors and Principal with the smooth running of classes and the school. Assistants should be able to deliver warm-ups and small sections of the class under the direction of the Tutor.

Assistants will help supervise break times, toileting and arrival and departure. They should be able to speak to parents and carers and deal with some enquires. Assistants will be required to communicate effectively with the Subject Leads and the Principal.

All Assistants should have a passion for, and strong knowledge of Musical Theatre and be enthusiastic about training the next generation of performers. Assistants should be personable and approachable, and maintain and inspire the high standards of Hope Mill Theatre. Assistants should have a strong awareness of Child Protection protocols and be willing to undertake further training and a DBS check.

People from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse backgrounds, people with disabilities and those from the LGBTQIA+ community are under-represented in the arts. They actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, especially those currently less represented in our industry and on our stages.

Send CVs, references, availability and expression of interest to theatreachool@hopemilltheatre.co.uk by Wednesday March 31st 2021.
