BLOOD ORANGE ZINE is a queer feminist zine publishing prose, poetry, and art of all kinds.
They’re looking at the intersections between the monstrous and the queer; when monsters are queer, and when queerness becomes the monster. We find queerness in gothic literature, in horror films, in myth and in folklore. We find queerness intertwined with the unknown, the strange, the dark and the magic. We find it wallowing in loneliness and dancing in community. We find it inspiring fear and excitement. Queer monsters are a means of writing ourselves out of the confines of binaries and heteronormativities. In the monster, we seek ourselves.
They’re looking for work on queer monsters. This could be:
– Short prose (up to 750 words)
– Non-fiction writing (up to 750 words)
– Poetry (up to 60 lines)
– Art + photography (send across high quality images/scans)
Anything else you think we might like
Non-fiction writing includes critical writing/essays on the topic of queer monsters.
