The PurpleDoor is a new theatre space opening in Liverpool, where all tickets will be free.
They are proposing a truly revolutionary model of ‘new’ theatre, where there are no tickets, all are welcome, and where art is tangibly and genuinely made with, by and for the local community.
As part of this proposal, they will be structuring around a social investment and not-for-profit model. Artistic decisions will not be made by one Artistic Director but by a Community Board, who will guide and oversee the artistic and business vision for the theatre, to ensure it meets its aims, and continues to innovate and deliver real impact for working class theatre makers and audiences.
The Role
They are now seeking applications for their board of trustees. They want to appoint people who wish to play an active and positive role in creating the change they need to see in the Theatre Industry.

They see lockdown as an opportunity to break geographical boundaries, and invite applicants from across the UK with a vested interest in developing a better way of doing things.
They are open to applicants from a range of backgrounds, but they are interested in hearing from people with experience in the following areas:
- Arts leadership / direction
- Community engagement and education
- Fundraising and financial management
- Legal
You can find more information and apply on their website below. They will meet (virtually or in person) with all applicants for an informal chat.
Deadline: 2 October. The role is unpaid.
